10 December 2024
Here’s what this change means for you
On 13 January 2025, a company called Brightwell will replace Capita as administrator to the Mineworkers’ Pension Scheme (MPS).
You’ll receive your pension as normal during this time
If you are already receiving your pension, it will be paid as normal while we switch to the new administrator. And if you have any questions, you should still contact Capita in the usual way.
The paydays for 2025 that we listed in Newsline in August will remain the same.
Some contact details are changing
There will be some changes to the way members contact us. We’ll keep the same phone number and Scheme website, but the postal address will change. There will also be a new email address.
From 13 January 2025, you can get in touch in the following ways.
By phone
0333 222 0077
Open 8.30am–5pm Mon to Fri. Closed on bank holidays
By email
By post
Mineworkers’ Pension Scheme
Sunderland
SR43 4LE
Capita will stay on as the Scheme’s administrator until 5.30pm on Friday 10 January 2025. If you have any questions about your pension before then, you should still contact Capita in the usual way.
A new online member portal is coming
We’ll be launching a new member portal for you to manage your MPS pension. This will replace the existing member portal, and you will need to register. We will tell you how to register once Brightwell takes over.
On the new portal you will be able to update your contact details and view your pension payslips and P60s online. If you haven’t started to take your pension yet, you’ll be able to get your own retirement quotes using the online pension calculator. And you’ll be able to submit your retirement application fully online too, if you prefer.
Please make sure we have your correct email address so that we can let you know when the new portal is up and running.
We’re closing the current online portal on 10 January 2025
We are making some changes ahead of launching our new portal.
From 8 January, if you want to make any changes to your personal details you will need to contact Capita by phone.
At 5.30pm on 10 January, the existing portal will close.
If you have any documents saved to your online document library that you need access to during January, you should download them before 10 January.
Our letters will look a little different
From January, you’ll notice that letters from us will look a little different. We will use a distinctive green font, so it will be easier to know a letter is from us. And you’ll also notice QR codes on any forms you need to return to us. You won’t have to use these – they’re to help us process your forms more quickly.
You will not receive any communications from Brightwell before 13 January 2025
No one from Brightwell will call a Scheme member out of the blue. If anyone calls you unexpectedly claiming to be from Brightwell, hang up. It is probably a scam. Please see page 10 of the August Newsline for more details on how to spot a scam.
Your personal information will be transferred to Brightwell
All information will be processed and kept securely in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018.
The Trustees have already thanked the staff at Capita for the service that they have provided to Scheme members over the years. We are confident that you will receive high levels of service from Brightwell under the new contract.
Thank you for your patience
There may be a delay in processing enquiries during the move from Capita to Brightwell in January. We are working with both organisations to ensure that any delays are kept to a minimum. We thank you in advance for your patience.
