The Government’s response to the Report into the Scheme by the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee was published on 5 July 2021 and can be found here. The Trustees are disappointed that the Government has rejected the Committee’s recommendations which would have improved members’ benefits.
The Trustees met briefly with the Minister of State for Energy, Clean Growth and Climate Change on 21 June to discuss the Committee's report, during which they confirmed their strong support for the Committee's recommendations. The Trustees shared no other views about the future of the Scheme during that meeting and will now consider the implications of the Government’s response more fully over the coming weeks.
